Woburn, England (Sports Network) – Colin Montgomerie carded a 2-under 70 on Sunday to cruise to a 6-stroke victory at the Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters.<\/p>\n
Montgomerie, who was making just his third start on the European Senior Tour, finished the tournament at 10-under-par 206. The 31-time winner on the European Tour collected his first professional win since the 2007 European Open.<\/p>\n
“This course has suited me down to the ground for years,” said Montgomerie. “I had a couple of great finishes on the (European Tour) — the Junior Tour, as I now call it — so it’s nice to come back here and finally win.”<\/p>\n
Paul Wesselingh fired the low round of the day at Woburn Golf Club with a 6- under 66 to jump into a share of second place with Miguel Angel Martin (71) at 4-under 212.<\/p>\n
Carl Masson (74) and Ross Drummond (73) tied for fourth at 3-under.<\/p>\n
Montgomerie entered the final round with a 3-stroke lead and was never threatened after following a birdie at the first with an eagle at the fifth.<\/p>\n
