San Diego, CA (Sports Network) – San Diego Chargers wide receiver Malcom Floyd hopes to be ready in time for the season opener after suffering a knee sprain during Monday’s practice.<\/p>\n
The injury occurred after colliding with cornerback Shareece Wright.<\/p>\n
“I kind of dodged a bullet with this one,” Floyd said. “We were just doing one-on-ones and I just got twisted up on a play and came down on my knee. It feels better than what it looked like on the field. We’re just taking it day by day. It feels better than yesterday.”<\/p>\n
Floyd will send the results of his MRI to other specialists so the initial diagnosis can be confirmed.<\/p>\n
“I thought I did something really bad to it,” Floyd said. “But it’s just a strain. No tears. I’m day to day.”<\/p>\n
Floyd led the Chargers with a career-best 56 receptions for 814 yards and five touchdowns last season. Over his eight-year career, all with the Chargers, Floyd has 233 catches for 3,984 yards and 25 TDs.<\/p>\n
