Rochester, NY (Sports Network) – Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, the top-two players in the world rankings, failed to make a move in Saturday’s third round at the PGA Championship.<\/p>\n
The duo combined to card three birdies in their third rounds. Woods had four bogeys and a lone birdie in a round of 3-over 73. Mickelson mixed two birdies, a triple bogey, a double bogey and five bogeys in a round of 8-over 78.<\/p>\n
Woods ended three rounds at 4-over-par 214. The four-time PGA champion will likely go another major without a victory. His last major title was the 2008 U.S. Open.<\/p>\n
He opened his round with bogeys at one and three. Woods rolled off seven straight pars from the fourth. He converted his only birdie of the day at the par-3 11th.<\/p>\n
Woods parred the next four before stumbling to bogeys at 16 and 17. He left the course 13 strokes behind Jason Dufner’s lead.<\/p>\n
“It was hard for me. I didn’t play very well today. I didn’t hit it very good, didn’t make anything, kept blocking every putt. So it was a tough day,” Woods stated.<\/p>\n
Mickelson traded a birdie for a bogey from the third. He faltered to a triple bogey on the seventh and dropped another stroke on No. 9.<\/p>\n
