Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – The Toronto Maple Leafs announced prior to Wednesday’s game with the Buffalo Sabres that forward Nazem Kadri will be scratched for two more games due to disciplinary issues.<\/p>\n
“(I) spoke with Dave Nonis, spoke with the coaching staff, spoke with Nazem … he won’t be playing in our next two games. We’ve told him if things go well, he’ll be available for (Saturday’s) game against Vancouver,” said Leafs president Brendan Shanahan.<\/p>\n
According to multiple reports, Kadri overslept following a 6-1 home loss to the Blues on Saturday night and arrived 20 minutes late to a team meeting. Kadri, who apologized to his coaching staff, was held out of Monday’s 4-3 overtime setback against the Islanders.<\/p>\n
He will miss tonight’s contest as well as Friday’s tilt in Calgary, which begins a three-game western Canadian road swing.<\/p>\n
“There’s more to this, if this were just a case of Nazem being 15 minutes late for a meeting one time. You could probably sweep this under the rug and handle it internally,” Shanahan added. “Naz is an important part of our future, we like him, his teammates like him and we expect a certain level of professionalism. It’s time for him to start making better decisions.”<\/p>\n
