Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Dwyane Wade will not play in Sunday’s NBA All- Star Game to rest a nagging right hamstring injury that has sidelined the Miami Heat guard for the last two weeks.

“I owed it to the Heat fans to play in their jersey first,” Wade told the Associated Press about his decision to bypass this weekend’s game at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

Wade will also sit out Miami’s final game prior to the All-Star break, which takes place Wednesday in Cleveland. The 2008-09 NBA scoring champion has been sidelined since Jan. 27 by his hamstring issues and missed seven games back in November due to an injury to his left hamstring.

The 33-year-old was selected as a reserve to the Eastern Conference squad, Wade’s 11th career All-Star selection. Commissioner Adam Silver will name a replacement for Wade on the East team in the coming days.

Despite playing in just 35 of the Heat’s 51 games, Wade has averaged 21.4 points, 5.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds this season.
