Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) – Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said at a news conference Friday that running back Trent Richardson was suspended for two games for personal reasons.<\/p>\n
Richardson missed the Colts’ walkthrough ahead of their AFC Championship Game loss to the Patriots due to a serious family medical situation, according to the Indianapolis Star.<\/p>\n
He was inactive the week prior in Denver, which came a week after he saw just one snap in the Colts’ wild card win over Cincinnati.<\/p>\n
“He’s suspended for two games, for personal reasons so I can’t go into that, but he was suspended,” Grigson said Friday, addressing the media five days after the Colts fell 45-7 to New England.<\/p>\n
The Colts originally acquired Richardson in a September 2013 trade that sent their upcoming first-round pick to Cleveland in exchange for the former No. 3 overall pick and All-American out of Alabama.<\/p>\n
Richardson carried the ball 159 times for 519 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games this season. He lost his starting job to Dan Herron in Week 16.<\/p>\n
