Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Miami Heat forward Josh McRoberts may miss the remainder of the season due to a torn meniscus in his right knee that will require surgery.

The Heat announced Monday that an MRI taken on McRoberts’ troublesome knee revealed a torn lateral meniscus. The offseason free agent acquisition will be sidelined indefinitely.

Injuries have hampered McRoberts all throughout this season, his first with the Heat since signing a four-year contract with the club over the summer. The eight-year veteran has averaged just 4.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 17.4 minutes in 17 games.

McRoberts averaged career bests of 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists while starting 78 games with Charlotte last season, helping the then-Bobcats to a surprise playoff appearance.

Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra also told reporters on Monday that star center Chris Bosh will not travel with the team for Tuesday’s game at Brooklyn. Miami’s leading scorer and rebounder is dealing with a calf strain that also kept him out of Sunday’s loss to Chicago.

Dwyane Wade, currently dealing with an illness, did make the trip to Brooklyn.
