Madrid, Spain (Sports Network) – Lee-Anne Pace carded an up-and-down 1-under 71 on Sunday to hang on for a 1-stroke win at the Open de Espana.<\/p>\n
Pace, who shared the overnight lead with Celine Herbin, finished the tournament at 13-under-par 275.<\/p>\n
Mikaela Parmlid shot a 2-under 70 during her final round at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid to move into second place at 12-under, while Joanna Klatten (72) took third at minus-9.<\/p>\n
Herbin tripped to a 4-over 76 on Sunday to fall into fourth place at 8-under 76.<\/p>\n
Pace and Herbin entered the final round tied at 12-under, but Pace quickly jumped out to a lead she would not lose with a birdie at the first.<\/p>\n
Pace later leapt out to a 4-stroke lead with three straight birdies from the fifth before a 3-putt bogey at the ninth dropped her to 15-under at the turn.<\/p>\n
The South African limped through her back nine with a bogey at the 12th and a double bogey at the 17th around a birdie at the 15th, but the effort was plenty enough for her to capture her seventh win on the Ladies European Tour.<\/p>\n
