{"id":25653,"date":"2014-11-11T18:24:00","date_gmt":"2014-11-11T18:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/kings-sign-free-agent-mcbain\/"},"modified":"2014-11-11T18:24:00","modified_gmt":"2014-11-11T18:24:00","slug":"kings-sign-free-agent-mcbain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/kings-sign-free-agent-mcbain\/","title":{"rendered":"Kings sign free agent McBain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) &#8211; The Los Angeles Kings signed defenseman Jamie McBain to a one-year contract on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>McBain totaled six goals and 11 assists over 69 games for the Buffalo Sabres in his fifth NHL season.<\/p>\n<p>Since cracking the Carolina Hurricanes&#8217; lineup during the 2009-10 season, the 26-year-old Minnesota native claims 25 goals and 92 points over 275 appearances.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s kind of been a crazy summer in a sense,&#8221; noted McBain. &#8220;I mean just kind of bouncing around, going to Arizona camp, leaving there, not knowing where to go, and coming to Manchester and getting this opportunity, so it&#8217;s kind of been definitely a crazy few weeks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The move was able to be consummated because defenseman Slava Voynov was designated a non-roster player stemming from his indefinite suspension on Oct. 20 in the wake of his arrest on domestic violence charges.<\/p>\n<p>McBain&#8217;s addition will not count against the league&#8217;s 23-man roster limit, though the team continues to pay Voynov&#8217;s salary which counts against the salary cap.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) &#8211; The Los Angeles Kings signed defenseman Jamie McBain to a one-year contract on Tuesday.
