Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) – Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer hurt his left knee during Sunday’s game against the Rams.<\/p>\n
Palmer, who signed a three-year, $50 million contract extension earlier this week, went down in obvious pain when he was sacked by Rams safety Mark Barron early in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n
The 34-year-old Palmer dropped back to pass on third down and Barron brought down the veteran quarterback by his shoulder. Palmer fell awkwardly and remained on the ground in pain.<\/p>\n
Palmer eventually walked off the field with a noticeable limp. He was then put on a cart and taken to the locker room.<\/p>\n
Arizona coach Bruce Arians said after the game the team wouldn’t know Palmer’s prognosis until more tests are done. According to NFL.com, the team believes the quarterback tore his ACL.<\/p>\n
Palmer, who missed three games earlier this season with a shoulder injury, had reconstructive surgery on the same knee in 2006 as a member of the Bengals.<\/p>\n
Drew Stanton stepped in for Palmer and went 3-for-3 for 85 yards with one touchdown. The Cardinals added two defensive touchdowns and won the game by a 31-14 margin.<\/p>\n
