Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Houston Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney returned to practice on Friday for the first time since a knee injury knocked him out of his first NFL game.<\/p>\n
The No. 1 draft pick is still just feeling his way back after having surgery to repair a torn left meniscus last month.<\/p>\n
“I’m taking it one day at a time right now with treatment and rehab and just trying to get back,” Clowney said.<\/p>\n
Texans coach Bill O’Brien said Clowney will be a game-time decision for Monday’s game in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n
Clowney said the team will follow his lead in determining when he’s OK to play.<\/p>\n
“Right now, it’s up to me and what I can do,” he said. “I’m out there testing the leg out to see what I can do and what I can’t do. If I can do it, I’ll do it, but if I can’t, I just let the coaches know that it’s bothering me and they’ll take me out of that drill.<\/p>\n
“It’s really up to me what I can do and can’t do.”<\/p>\n
Clowney made one tackle against Washington before walking into the locker room under his own power near the end of the half in Week 1.<\/p>\n
The former South Carolina star had offseason sports hernia surgery and also suffered a concussion during a joint scrimmage against the Denver Broncos during training camp.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
