Irving, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was fined by the team but not suspended after his shoplifting arrest Monday night.<\/p>\n
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Randle will play in Sunday’s NFC East clash against the New York Giants.<\/p>\n
“The actions we’re going to take are to fine him significantly and move forward,” Garrett said Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The coach said Randle “took full responsibility” for the arrest.<\/p>\n
“There were a lot of circumstances that were surrounding the situation but there are no excuses, no explanations for this,” Garrett said. “He made a poor decision. He recognizes that. As poor a decision as he’s ever made in his life. There are consequences to that. We made that abundantly clear.”<\/p>\n
The Frisco Police Department said it was dispatched to a Dillard’s department store on a shoplifting call Monday night and made contact with Randle, who had been detained by store security.<\/p>\n
Police determined Randle had removed items — reportedly cologne and underwear — without purchasing them and he was arrested on a class B misdemeanor charge of theft between $50 and $500.<\/p>\n
Randle was booked in the Frisco City Jail and later released on bond.<\/p>\n
A day earlier, the second-year backup rushed for 52 yards on just five carries in a win over Seattle. He has gained 277 yards on 70 carries in 19 games for the Cowboys, scoring two touchdowns.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
