Fife, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) – Mark Davis closed with a 1-under 71 in windy conditions Sunday and won the Scottish Senior Open by five strokes.<\/p>\n
The Englishman ended at 5-under-par 211 on the Torrance Championship Course at Fairmont St. Andrews. This was his first victory on the European Senior Tour.<\/p>\n
Davis bogeyed the first, but got that stroke back with a birdie on the fourth. He ran off six pars in a row from the fifth, and was one behind American Jerry Smith.<\/p>\n
The 50-year-old grabbed the lead at minus-6 with birdies on the 12th and 14th. After bogeys at 16 and 17, Davis birdied the last to close out the win.<\/p>\n
Cesar Monasterio was the second-round leader, but he tripped to a 7-over 79 in the final round to fall into a share of second at even-par 216. He was joined there by David J. Russell (73), Philip Golding (74) and Pedro Linhart (76).<\/p>\n
Smith reached 5-under par with a birdie on the 10th, but he played the final six holes in 6-over par with four bogeys and a double-bogey.
