Eden Prairie, MN (SportsNetwork.com) – Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Linval Joseph was struck in the calf by a stray bullet while at a downtown Minneapolis bar following the team’s preseason game on Friday.<\/p>\n
The Vikings announced that Joseph sustained only minor injuries from the incident, which took place at the 400 SoundBar club after the team’s 10-6 win over the Oakland Raiders. The offseason acquisition was released from a local hospital shortly after receiving treatment and is expected to rejoin the team later this week.<\/p>\n
According to the Star-Tribune, multiple people were wounded — two seriously — by an unknown gunman that fired several shots around 1:50 a.m. CT on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
“The entire Vikings organization is extremely thankful that Linval was not seriously hurt, and our thoughts are with all of the victims of this shooting,” the team said in a statement. “The team will defer any further comment to the Minneapolis Police Department during its ongoing investigation.”<\/p>\n
Joseph signed a five-year, $31.5 million contract with the Vikings in March after spending four seasons with the New York Giants.
