Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia will have season-ending microfracture surgery on his right knee next week.<\/p>\n
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Sabathia will undergo the surgery on Wednesday, according to the team’s official website.<\/p>\n
Sabathia, 33, last started for the Yankees on May 10. The former Cy Young Award winner underwent an MRI exam on July 3 after swelling developed in his knee following a rehab start at Double-A Trenton the day before.<\/p>\n
The left-hander, who has a degenerative knee condition, struggled in eight starts this season, posting a 5.28 ERA and a 3-4 record.<\/p>\n
