Saskatoon, SK (SportsNetwork.com) – Kelvin Day and Erik Barnes fired two of the best rounds on Friday and they moved into a share of the lead after 36 holes of the Dakota Dunes Open.<\/p>\n
Day matched the low round of the day with his 10-under 62, while Barnes fired a 9-under 63 in round two. They are tied atop the leaderboard at 11-under 133.<\/p>\n
Day has one top-10 finish in three PGA Tour Canada starts this year, while Barnes missed the cut in his lone previous start in 2014.<\/p>\n
First-round leader Drew Stoltz posted an even-par 72 and dropped into a share of third place with Matt Harmon (70) at 9-under 135. John Catlin is alone in fifth at minus-8 after posting a 5-under 67 in round two at Dakota Dunes Golf Links.<\/p>\n
Tyler Aldridge (64), Robert S. Karlsson (66), David Byrne (68), Jeff Corr (70) and Joseph Doramus (69) share sixth place at 6-under 138.<\/p>\n
Day started his round with three straight pars from the 10th. He poured in three birdies in a 4-hole span from the 13th. Day birdied the 18th to make the turn at minus-5.<\/p>\n
The Englishman followed his birdie on 18 with three consecutive birdies from the first. Day wrapped pars at four and six around a birdie on the fifth. He jumped into a share of the lead with back-to-back birdies at seven and eight. Day parred his last to cap a bogey-free round.<\/p>\n
Barnes also played the back nine first on Friday, and he opened with a birdie. After five straight pars, he birdied the 16th. Barnes notched birdies at the 18th and the first to move to minus-6.<\/p>\n
The 26-year-old made birdie on the par-3 third and followed with back-to-back pars. Barnes wrapped up his round with four consecutive birdies from the sixth to soar into a share of the lead.<\/p>\n
