{"id":20461,"date":"2014-07-04T16:28:00","date_gmt":"2014-07-04T16:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/umpire-darling-retires-wolcott-promoted\/"},"modified":"2014-07-04T16:28:00","modified_gmt":"2014-07-04T16:28:00","slug":"umpire-darling-retires-wolcott-promoted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/umpire-darling-retires-wolcott-promoted\/","title":{"rendered":"Umpire Darling retires, Wolcott promoted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) &#8211; Umpire Gary Darling, a veteran of 28 major- league seasons, has decided to retire, with Quinn Wolcott being promoted to full-time status as his replacement.<\/p>\n<p>Darling, who has been on the umpire&#8217;s disabled list for the entire 2014 season, has been a crew chief since 2004 and was officially appointed to National League&#8217;s officiating staff in 1988.<\/p>\n<p>The 56-year-old San Francisco native worked a pair of All-Star Games (1993, 2003), five League Championship Series (1992, 2004, 2006, 2011-12) and two World Series (2003, 2010) during his professional tenure.<\/p>\n<p>Wolcott, 28, has worked at the Triple-A level since 2011.
