New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Oakland’s Yoenis Cespedes and Toronto’s Melky Cabrera are battling for the final spot in the American League outfield for the upcoming All-Star Game.

Cespedes was ahead of Cabrera when the final balloting update was released on Monday, but his lead was just 12,047 votes.

The remaining AL starters appear to be set in stone.

Toronto’s Jose Bautista continues to lead all vote-getters with more than 4.46 million while fellow outfielder Mike Trout of the Angels has received over 4.085 million votes.

Detroit first baseman Miguel Cabrera and Oakland third baseman Josh Donaldson both hold leads of over a million votes at their positions. Seattle second baseman Robinson Cano is ahead of Detroit’s Ian Kinsler by nearly 900,000 votes, while retiring Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter has about 600,000 more than Chicago’s Alexei Ramirez.

Despite undergoing season-ending Tommy John surgery earlier this month, Baltimore’s Matt Wieters is still the top vote-getter among catchers. Oakland’s Derek Norris is second, only 179,336 votes behind the injured Wieters.

Baltimore designated hitter Nelson Cruz has a comfortable lead over Boston’s David Ortiz.

The All-Star Game is scheduled for July 15 at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Balloting concludes July 3. The AL and NL squads will both be announced on Sunday.
