Manny Pacquiao earned a unanimous decision over Timothy Bradley on Saturday night to reclaim the WBO welterweight belt.<\/p>\n
The fight was scored 116-112, 116-112, 118-110 in favor of Pacquiao (56-5-2).<\/p>\n
Bradley (31-1), meanwhile, took his first professional loss.<\/p>\n
After the fight Bradley said he pulled his right calf in the first round but stated, “I have no excuses.”<\/p>\n
Bradley won the first fight two years ago with a controversial split decision that was greeted by gasps and boos at the MGM Grand. Bradley won 115-113 on two cards to end Pacquiao’s 15-fight winning streak.<\/p>\n
The 35-year-old Filipino had a 115-113 margin on the third scorecard but lost for the first time in four title defenses of the belt.<\/p>\n
Saturday’s fight appeared even through the first six rounds, but Pacquiao controlled the second half of the bout by being aggressive and keeping Bradley off-balance with a series of combinations.<\/p>\n
Bradley, who normally focuses on keeping his distance and being precise with his punches, uncharacteristically looked for the knockout throughout the fight. He has 12 of them in his career.<\/p>\n
Earlier on the undercard, Jessie Vargas (24-0) remained undefeated and captured the WBA junior welterweight belt from Khabib Allakhverdiev (19-1) via unanimous decision, 115-113, 115-113, 117-111.<\/p>\n
