{"id":17163,"date":"2014-04-06T13:08:00","date_gmt":"2014-04-06T13:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/moore-defeats-van-den-berg-in-playoff-in-south-africa\/"},"modified":"2014-04-06T13:08:00","modified_gmt":"2014-04-06T13:08:00","slug":"moore-defeats-van-den-berg-in-playoff-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/moore-defeats-van-den-berg-in-playoff-in-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Moore defeats van den Berg in playoff in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Johannesburg, South Africa (SportsNetwork.com) &#8211; Titch Moore birdied the fifth playoff hole Sunday to defeat Ulrich van den Berg and win the Telkom Business PGA Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Moore carded a 5-under 67 and van den Berg shot a 4-under 68 during the final round at Country Club Johannesburg to finish tied atop the leaderboard at 15- under-par 273.<\/p>\n<p>The duo then returned to the 18th hole for each of the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>Van den Berg had a chance to end the playoff on two separate occasions, but missed putts from two and four feet to keep Moore alive.<\/p>\n<p>Moore took advantage with his birdie putt at the fifth extra hole to earn his eighth career win on the Sunshine Tour, but first since the 2007 Coca-Cola Charity Championship.<\/p>\n<p>JJ Senekal (70) finished in third place at 14-under, while third-round leader Oliver Bekker tripped to a 1-over 73 on Sunday to fall into a tie for fourth with Danie van Tonder (68) and Darren Fichardt (69) at 13-under 275.<\/p>\n<p>Tyrone Ferreira (67) and Merrick Bremner (70) tied for seventh at minus-12.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Johannesburg, South Africa (SportsNetwork.com) &#8211; Titch Moore birdied the fifth playoff hole Sunday to defeat Ulrich van den Berg and win the Telkom Business PGA Championship.
