It was his first year with the Ravens.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are a lot of smiles around the building today after we got a commitment from Daryl Smith to stay a Raven,&#8221; Baltimore general manager Ozzie Newsome said. &#8220;He fills a need for us at a high level.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old Smith spent the first nine years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected him in the second round of the 2004 draft.<\/p>\n<p>Smith has 801 tackles, 26 1\/2 sacks, 54 pass breakups, nine interceptions, 11 forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries in 142 career games with the Jaguars and Ravens.<\/p>\n<p>The Ravens also re-signed safety Jeromy Miles to a one-year contract.
