{"id":15909,"date":"2014-03-12T20:54:00","date_gmt":"2014-03-12T20:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/report-patriots-land-revis-for-12-million\/"},"modified":"2014-03-12T20:54:00","modified_gmt":"2014-03-12T20:54:00","slug":"report-patriots-land-revis-for-12-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/report-patriots-land-revis-for-12-million\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Patriots land Revis for $12 million"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(SportsNetwork.com) &#8211; The New England Patriots have signed cornerback Darrelle Revis to a one-year, $12 million deal, according to ESPN.com.<\/p>\n<p>The report came hours after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released Revis on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Revis, a five-time Pro Bowler long seen as one of the best corners in the NFL, was with the Bucs less than a year after being acquired from the Jets in a trade last April.<\/p>\n<p>The Bucs saved $16 million in salary cap space by cutting Revis loose and the Patriots replaced a key piece they lost after the start of NFL free agency on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Pro Bowl corner Aqib Talib signed a six-year contract with the Denver Broncos worth a reported $57 million after spending more than a season in New England.<\/p>\n<p>Revis tore his ACL in Week 3 of the 2012 season, his last with the Jets. He had two interceptions, 11 passed defensed and 50 tackles as Tampa Bay went 4-12 this past season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Darrelle showed a lot of heart last year as he worked extremely hard to get himself back on the field following his knee injury sustained the previous season,&#8221; Bucs general manager Jason Licht said.<\/p>\n<p>Licht said you never like to lose a good player but it was in the best interests of the team to let Revis go.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(SportsNetwork.com) &#8211; The New England Patriots have signed cornerback Darrelle Revis to a one-year, $12 million deal, according to ESPN.com.
