{"id":15106,"date":"2014-02-26T12:13:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-26T12:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/piercy-out-several-months-with-arm-injury\/"},"modified":"2014-02-26T12:13:00","modified_gmt":"2014-02-26T12:13:00","slug":"piercy-out-several-months-with-arm-injury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/piercy-out-several-months-with-arm-injury\/","title":{"rendered":"Piercy out several months with arm injury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(SportsNetwork.com) &#8211; Scott Piercy, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, will be out of action for the next several months due to a tear in his right arm.<\/p>\n<p>Piercy, who first injured the arm last year at the Byron Nelson Championship, is slated for surgery on Thursday to repair a tear of the flexor digitum superficialis.<\/p>\n<p>The 2012 Canadian Open winner received a cortisone shot after an unsuccessful title defense north of the border last July. He received a second shot after sharing fifth place at the 2013 PGA Championship.<\/p>\n<p>At that point, he learned the tendon had frayed. Piercy lost his first-round match at the WGC-Accenture Match Play last Wednesday, then found out from an MRI on Monday that the tendon had partially torn away from the bone.<\/p>\n<p>He was quoted after Wednesday&#8217;s match as saying, &#8220;I&#8217;ve never felt such pain in my life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Now he knows why.
