{"id":13588,"date":"2014-02-01T11:18:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-01T11:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/pacers-add-bynum\/"},"modified":"2014-02-01T23:40:16","modified_gmt":"2014-02-01T23:40:16","slug":"pacers-add-bynum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/pacers-add-bynum\/","title":{"rendered":"Pacers add Bynum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) &#8211; The Indiana Pacers announced Saturday that they have signed free-agent center Andrew Bynum for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Bynum is expected to join the Pacers sometime next week.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are obviously happy to have him join our team,&#8221; said Pacers president of basketball operations Larry Bird in a statement. &#8220;He gives us added size, he is a skilled big man and he has championship experience. With the minutes he gets, he should be a valuable addition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bynum, who missed all of 2012-13 with knee problems, averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds in 24 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers this season. The Cavaliers suspended and ultimately traded the 7-footer last month to the Chicago Bulls, which quickly released him in a salary dump move.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It really wasn&#8217;t a hard decision, I think it&#8217;s the right fit for me and, in all honesty, I think we&#8217;ve got the best chance of winning,&#8221; Bynum said in a statement. &#8220;It will be great to back up Roy (Hibbert) and I&#8217;ll do whatever I can to help this team.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) &#8211; The Indiana Pacers announced Saturday that they have signed free-agent center Andrew Bynum for the remainder of the season.
