Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Oakland Athletics took a gamble and made a move to bolster their bullpen on Wednesday, agreeing to terms with reliever Eric O’Flaherty on a two-year contract.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old left-hander finished 2013 with a 3-0 record and 2.50 earned run average in 19 appearances last season for the Braves. He did not pitch after May 17 due to elbow trouble, and underwent Tommy John surgery a short time later. He isn’t expected to be ready for a return to the mound until mid- season. `<\/p>\n
Over eight major-league seasons with Seattle and Atlanta, O’Flaherty owns a 20-9 mark with a 2.85 ERA in 373 games, all in relief.<\/p>\n
