Knickerbockers basketball started in 1946 when they were first members of the BAA league which later became the NBA in 1949. This acquisition came in the form of Georgetown big man, Patrick Ewing in the 1985 draft. Ewing reenergized the Knicks organization and had a Hall of Fame caliber career in New York. The Knicks were in the playoff hunt each season with Rick Pitino at the helm, but they could never out duel the Bulls and Michael Jordan. During this period, the Knicks may have been one of the best NBA teams to take the court without winning an NBA title.
