Who will Go to the NBA Finals?
Just a couple of days into the second round of the NBA playoffs, and things are already getting tense. Will the Heat take it again? And will the Thunder once again, be the only team that stands in their way? Yes, it’s true. This year’s playoff run is looking very similar to last year’s. But now with Russell Westbrook out with injury, things may not be so certain for the Thunder this time around.
Whether or not Westbrook’s injury will have any impact on the Thunder’s performance remains yet to be seen. They do still have Kevin Durant, Ronnie Brewer, and Nick Collison still working hard for them and this trio, along with the rest of the talent on the team, could very well be enough to advance at least to the Western conference semi-finals.
If there’s any team that can give the Thunder a run for their money, it’s the San Antonia Spurs. This team is dealing with a slew of injuries right now, and getting past those will prove to be the team’s biggest challenge. Still if they can play like they did in round one against the mighty Los Angeles Lakers, they could pull it off — if they can get past the Golden State Warriors. Yes, the Warriors are the underdogs in this series, but among other championship-contender qualities they have, they also have the very dangerous Stephen Curry.
As for the East, the Miami Heat very well could take it again, if only in their own conference. They’re playing a very hurt Chicago Bulls team right now, and that as well as the fact that the Heat have outplayed the Bulls all season will work in their favor. With the New York Knicks clearly not being much of a challenge for the Heat, it could be the Indiana Pacers that take the Heat to the task to see who will move onto the Finals.
Is your team still in the playoffs? Who do you think will be in the NBA Finals, and who do you think will win the championship this year?
