Their recording sessions raised a few issues with the band members and saw Will Champion fired for a brief period. He was finally enticed to rejoin the band and a few changes were put in place. The band decided to operate in a more democratic manner in their decision making and also put in place a rule that any member caught using hard drugs would be let go immediately.

Over the next ten years, they continued to record and tour, releasing four more albums and beginning in the early months of 2011, they announced their fifth album was in the works and due for release in the fall. During their ten years together, the band has received numerous awards, including seven Grammy Awards and six Brit Awards. One thing the entire band could agree on was never allowing the use of their songs in any commercial endorsements of any kind.
